Your iPhone SE won’t turn on? You’re not the only one. Recently, there have been reports from owners saying their iPhone won’t turn on or are experiencing a number of anomalies (iPhone won’t turn, it’s stuck on the Apple logo, it crashes, etc.). Although this is actually one of the most common iPhone problems, this was rather unexpected from such new model. However, we’ve tackled many iPhone problems and solutions in the past, and this certainly won’t be an exception!
iPhone SE Won’t Turn On
If you’re facing these same issues, we recommend you to check our article. We’ll provide a step-by-step guide to solve the iPhone won’t turn on issue and other common iPhone problems. You just have to answer some questions related to iPhone problems and solutions, and from there, you can finally determine what’s going on in your device! Let’s begin with the first question…
Is It A Black Screen?
Sometimes, when the firmware crashes, the phone may reboot on its own after freezing, slowing down or hanging. However, those instances where the phone freezes and leaves its screen black and unresponsive are bad news.
The black screen issues can be easily fixed through a soft reset (or a “hard reset”). First, press and hold the Home button and the Power key together for 15 to 20 seconds (if there’s enough battery left, the white Apple logo will appear). When this happens, release both buttons and wait for the device to reboot. If your iPhone turns on, then it’s solved (although we recommend you to back up your files and data before and after this procedure). However, if it didn’t, then answer the following question.
Does Your Phone Has Enough Battery?
If your iPhone SE won’t turn on even after a soft reset, then it’s time to check if there’s energy left in the battery.
Leave your iPhone SE charging for least 10 minutes and turn it on again. If it still doesn’t work, try to do the soft reset procedure while your device is charging. If it’s not charging, this could mean that the phone can no longer power up its components. Still, wait for some minutes and see if charging icon appears (when there’s no battery, it may take a while before the phone shows the charging indicators).
However, if your iPhone won’t respond, maybe your cable might be the problem. First, check the cable for breakage, if the port on your charger for any blockage that impedes it from absorb electricity, and/or check if one of the pins is bent or if there’s debris in your phone’s charging port. Alternatively, you could try a different charger.
Did It Suffer Damage Recently?
If nothing changed even with a different charger, then ask yourself if you accidentally dropped your device or got it wet recently. Because if none of our previous solutions worked, it means that there’s deeper firmware damage that no conventional solutions can solve. In this case, there’s nothing you can do except bring the phone to an Apple store or authorized techs.

If your iPhone SE won’t turn on, try one of our procedures to fix it. Most of the common iPhone problems can easily be fixed with soft resets, particularly those where the iPhone won’t turn on, it’s stuck on the Apple logo, won’t turn off, etc. However, if your iPhone won’t turn on despite our advice, then this goes beyond DIY iPhone problems and solutions, and it’s better to seek help from a professional.
